About the Role:
We are seeking a qualified Lifting & Rigging Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, planning, and engineering oversight of all lifting and rigging operations. This role is critical for ensuring the safety, compliance, and technical accuracy of heavy lifts across marine, offshore, and construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lift Planning & Engineering: Develop detailed lift plans and engineered drawings for complex and critical lifts, including tandem lifts, offshore lifts, and heavy module installations.
- Design Calculations: Perform structural and mechanical calculations for rigging arrangements, lifting points, and load distribution using engineering software.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare and review lifting studies, method statements, risk assessments, and lift procedure documents in compliance with international standards (ISO, BS, LOLER, DNV).
- Equipment Specification: Specify and select appropriate lifting equipment, cranes, rigging gear, and accessories based on load requirements and site conditions.
- On-site Supervision: Provide on-site technical support during lifting operations, ensuring adherence to approved lift plans and safety procedures.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct engineering risk assessments for lifting operations and propose mitigation measures.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all lifting activities comply with class society rules (ABS, DNV, Lloyds), client requirements, and HSE regulations.
- Audit & Inspection Support: Assist in the inspection and certification of lifting equipment; review lifting gear certifications and test reports.
- Training & Mentoring: Provide technical guidance to lifting supervisors, riggers, and site engineers.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience as a Lifting Engineer in marine, offshore, or heavy construction projects.
- Proven experience in:
- Offshore heavy lift engineering
- Marine barge and vessel lifting operations
- Lift planning software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SACS, Ansys)
- Crane selection and capacity analysis
- Strong knowledge of international lifting standards and regulations.
Required Certifications:
- LEEA Diploma or equivalent lifting engineering qualification.
- Lifting Equipment Planner/Engineer Certification (e.g., API RP 2D, LOLER).
- NEBOSH/IOSH certification (preferred).
- Offshore survival certificates (BOSIET/HUET) if required.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in engineering software (AutoCAD, STAAD.Pro, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Advanced knowledge of load dynamics, structural analysis, and rigging configurations.
- Experience with crane load charts and lift simulation tools.
- Strong report writing and technical presentation skills.
