Crawler Crane Mechanic (Oil & Gas / Construction)

Job Summary:

The Crawler Crane Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of crawler cranes used in oil & gas and construction projects. The role ensures equipment reliability, safety compliance, and minimal downtime in high-demand site operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on crawler cranes (e.g., lattice boom cranes).
  • Diagnose faults in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Perform repairs on engines, winches, slew systems, tracks, and hydraulic components.
  • Conduct pre-use inspections and ensure cranes are safe for operation.
  • Attend on-site breakdowns and provide immediate technical support.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE policies and oil & gas safety standards.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, service reports, and inspection checklists.
  • Coordinate with crane operators and site engineers for fault reporting and resolution.
  • Assist in crane assembly, dismantling, and load testing when required.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of tools and spare parts.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Heavy Equipment Maintenance.
  • Minimum 4–6 years of experience in crawler crane maintenance within oil & gas or construction projects.
  • Experience with major crane brands such as Zoomlion, Liebherr, Kobelco, Hitachi Construction Machinery, or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, and undercarriage systems.
  • Familiarity with load charts and crane safety systems is an advantage.
  • GCC experience preferred.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • HSE certifications (e.g., Safety Passport, Work at Height, Confined Space).
  • Crane maintenance or heavy equipment certification.
  • Valid UAE/GCC driving license (preferred).

Skills & Competencies:

  • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Strong understanding of safety-critical equipment
  • Ability to work under pressure in remote site conditions
  • Team collaboration and communication skills
  • High attention to detail and safety awareness

Working Conditions:

  • Site-based role (oil & gas fields / construction sites)
  • Exposure to harsh weather and remote locations
  • Rotational shifts or long working hours may be required
  • Emergency call-outs and breakdown support
