Credit Analyst

Basic Function:

This position is responsible for analyzing credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money. This position must present a quality, professional image for First Community Bank and have the desire and ability to develop and maintain quality customer relationships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze financial statements, tax returns, credit reports, debt schedules, and industry ratios to assess the customer’s financial health, cash flow, and their ability to meet their debt obligations.
  • Work with loan officers to ensure proper financial documentation is received and maintained from customers.
  • Perform annual reviews to ensure compliance with financial covenants and identify potential credit quality issues.
  • Communicate with loan officers and other bank personnel to verify key financial and credit information as well as keep them informed of the analysis.
  • Evaluate liquidity, profitability and credit histories of customers to prevent losses to the bank.
  • Maintain data containing customer credit and financial histories, including spreadsheets and corresponding narratives that detail a company’s financial performance.
  • Promptly and successfully complete all compliance training as determined by the compliance department.
  • Attend department and company meetings which may be scheduled outside of normal work hours.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Ability to interpret and analyze financial statements, understand financial ratios, and assess financial health.
  • Skilled in using financial software, specifically Excel, and other relevant tools for data analysis.
  • Ability to conduct thorough research and verify information.
  • A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field is preferred.
  • An associate’s degree and relevant experience.
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Able to work responsibly with little supervision.
