Credit and Collections Analyst

The primary purpose of this position is to analyze new and existing customers' creditworthiness and make credit recommendations on behalf of the company. The Credit Analyst works closely with districts/datasets to determine creditworthiness, payment terms and to ensure that payment deadlines are met.


General Duties and Responsibilities


Conduct credit checks on new and potential customers to evaluate the creditworthiness of potential customers, approve and reject customer shipments, negotiate payment terms and update the company's credit policy
Analyze and assess the financial statements and business credit reports of existing and potential commercial customers
Review credit applications and analyze credit reports / perform credit checks for consumer customers
Assign appropriate credit limits and payment terms as set out by company policy and procedure
Consult and negotiate with customers regarding financial transactions, payment terms and credit limits
Keeping company credit exposure within set risk bearing limits
Responsible for commercial collections and ensure timely payments are being made
Assist with consumer collections and ensure timely payments are being made
Contact customers with overdue accounts and attempt to either collect the overdue amount or negotiate a payment plan
Correctly process bankruptcy filings when received
Analyze on a quarterly basis top exposure and top delinquent accounts for at-risk assessment
Submit regular reports on the status of unpaid accounts and any repayment progress
Assist with cash applications as assigned
Participate in special projects, analysis and ad-hoc tasks as required by management


Position Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


3+ years of credit analysis and credit process experience in a high growth environment
Thorough understanding of credit and accounts receivable operational concepts
General knowledge of GAAP/IFRS
Possess excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving and prioritization skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects to meet deadlines and goals
Exercise solid organizational and communication skills
Knowledge of computerized accounting systems
Good phone skills and computer literacy (MS Office)
Ability to work independently and effectively manage time
Must be dependable with a stable work history
Ability to follow verbal and written directions
Ability to maintain stability under pressure and be flexible and willing to modify plans and behavior when necessary
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and/or holidays
Ability to adapt to a changing schedule as directed
Show excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to be a positive representative of the Company both internally and externally
Ability to work with respect and cooperation at all times with fellow employees and customers
Must be committed to working safely at all times


Experience/Education:


Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in office environment.


Travel:


Minimal Travel required but may occur.
