Work is performed under the supervision of the Forensic Services Manager.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Supervises and evaluates crime scene unit employees.Plans, schedules, evaluates, and counsels crime scene unit staff on work performance to ensure compliance with department policies and procedures.Trains crime scene unit personnel.Responsible for purchasing and maintenance of crime scene unit supplies and equipment.Processes crime scenes including photographs, evidence collection, diagrams, and other pertinent information.Responsible for lab safety requirements.Responds to major scenes to supervise analysis of evidentiary material and laboratory examinations.Testifies in court as an expert witness.Performs related tasks as required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
A two-year degree in Forensic Science or related field or other specialized training in Forensic Science.Minimum of six (6) years of experience in a full-time crime scene investigation role.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSCompletion of an industry recognized basic fingerprint courseSupervisory experience is preferred.Possession of Crime Scene certification with International Association for Identification is preferred.
