CT & Sleep Authorization Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented CT & Sleep Authorization Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of managed care processes, medical office procedures, and insurance authorization protocols. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and obtaining prior authorizations for computed tomography (CT) scans and sleep studies, ensuring timely approval to facilitate patient care. Your expertise in medical terminology, coding, and insurance verification will be essential to streamline operations and support our clinical teams.

Duties

• Review patient records and medical documentation to determine authorization requirements for CT imaging and sleep studies.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to facilitate authorization requests.
• Utilize knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems to accurately prepare documentation for insurance submissions.
• Verify insurance coverage and benefits to ensure compliance with managed care policies.
• Maintain detailed records of authorization requests, approvals, denials, and follow-up actions in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• Collaborate with medical office staff to coordinate scheduling based on authorization status and patient needs.
• Stay current with changes in insurance policies, coding updates, and healthcare regulations relevant to sleep and imaging services.
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries related to authorization status promptly and professionally.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in managed care environments or medical office settings, preferably within sleep or radiology departments.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding systems, and medical records management.
• Familiarity with insurance verification processes and prior authorization procedures for diagnostic imaging and sleep studies.
• Experience working with HIPAA compliance standards to protect patient confidentiality.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills for liaising with healthcare providers, insurance representatives, and patients.
• Prior experience in dental office settings or medical coding is considered a plus but is not mandatory.
