Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Customs Clearance Expert to lead and manage all customs-related operations for the import and export of critical infrastructure and technical equipment. This role is essential for ensuring full compliance with Pakistan’s evolving customs regulations and for facilitating the smooth flow of goods for large-scale projects such as utility modernization, energy infrastructure, and smart grid systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the complete customs clearance process for all inbound and outbound shipments, including high-value and sensitive equipment.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive documentation through the WeBOC system, including GDs, invoices, HS codes, certificates of origin, and exemption certificates.
- Ensure full compliance with local customs laws, SROs, FBR guidelines, and 2025 regulatory updates.
- Liaise with Pakistan Customs, Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Port Qasim, bonded warehouses, and freight forwarders to ensure timely clearance.
- Advise internal stakeholders on customs duties, exemptions, and regulatory changes affecting project timelines and costs.
- Resolve complex issues related to classification, valuation, demurrage, and regulatory disputes.
- Maintain detailed records of all customs transactions and generate compliance and audit reports.
- Train and mentor junior customs and logistics staff on best practices and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in international Trade, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- 10–12 years of hands-on experience in customs clearance operations in Pakistan.
- Deep knowledge of Pakistan Customs regulations, WeBOC, PRAL, and bonded warehousing procedures.
- Proven experience handling customs for infrastructure, energy, or utility projects.
- Strong understanding of import/export documentation, HS code classification, and SRO-based exemptions.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent in English and proficient in Urdu and/or other local languages for effective coordination with customs officials and local stakeholders.
