Customer Service Dispatcher

Job Summary

The Dispatcher is responsible for dispatching drivers and monitoring equipment status to ensure pick-up and delivery standards and other customer requirements are met. This role will also ensure a high utilization of assets, perform administrative duties and work to achieve optimum driver and customer satisfaction.

Role and Responsibilities

· Manage and dispatch drivers’ combination of Owner Operators and Company Driver, and monitor equipment status to ensure pickup and delivery standards and other customer requires are met. Including all over the road breakdowns/maintenance.

· Assign and dispatch drivers to loads, ensure hours of service requirements are met while also string to minimize service failures and other expenses as possible.

· Maintain communication/relationship with Customer Accounts to ensure all needs are being met satisfactorily.

· Communicate to driver (pick-up and delivery standards), shipper and consignee locations and any special customer requests.

· Monitor driver location status and provide help and assistance as necessary to protect pick-up and delver standards.

· Ensure solid understanding of DOT hours of Service and Compliance matters, providing help and information as necessary to ensure driver stays qualified and available for dispatch.

· Perform administrative duties including writing and inputting work orders, tracking/tracing freight, maintaining mileage records/reports, inventory as well as the Company’s Internal Database and records/ Drivers Logs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

· Facilitate solutions to customer needs through problem-solving and critical thinking.

· Disburse and maintain driver keys/openers.

· Maintain confidential of financial and personnel information at all times.

Required Skills/Abilities

· Self-directed and able to prioritize, make decisions, and meet deadlines with professional, quality results.

· Strong organizational skills.

· High level of attention to detail and the ability to clearly communicate with Internal and External parties.

· Excellent communication skills verbal and written.

Education and Experience

· High School Diploma or equivalent required

· Bachelor's Degree in business, logistics, or a related field preferred

· Proven experience as a dispatcher or relevant position.

· Tanker dispatch experience is a plus.
