Cyber Range Business Development Consultant (Grant Funded)

Bridgewater State University is seeking a skilled and dynamic Cyber Range Business Development Consultant with a strong background in information technology services or software sales to lead the growth of our innovative Cyber Range training facility. The consultant will play a key role in attracting a wide range of organizations-private businesses, municipalities, non-profits, government agencies, and more-comprising both technical and non-technical professionals to engage in our cybersecurity training programs.

This initiative aligns with BSUs mission to provide innovative educational and workforce development opportunities that strengthen regional capacity in cybersecurity and digital resilience.

The consultant will collaborate closely with the Cyber Range Coordinator, the Director of Corporate and Community Programs, the Dean of Continuing Studies, the Vice President of IT and CIO, and CyberTrust Massachusetts to develop and execute business development strategies that expand our client base and enhance the visibility of our Cyber Range offerings. Our Cyber Range leverages the Immersive Labs platform, which provides a highly interactive and comprehensive training experience through crisis simulations and labs.

Develop a Cyber Range services marketing plan in collaboration with the Director of Marketing and the Division of Marketing and Communications.

Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies to attract diverse organizations to the Cyber Range.

Generate new business opportunities across public and private sectors for cybersecurity training and professional development.

Understand potential clients training needs and propose tailored training programs that align with the capabilities of the Immersive Labs platform and BSUs offerings.

Engage with key decision-makers from private businesses, municipalities, non-profits, and government agencies to build and foster relationships.

Establish and maintain strong client relationships to drive repeat business and referrals.

Promote the capabilities and value of the Immersive Labs platform to prospective clients.

Collaborate with the Cyber Range Director and CyberTrust Massachusetts to ensure smooth delivery of training services.

Design a diverse portfolio of training services for non-profits, businesses, municipalities, military, K-12, and higher-education institutions.

Partner with CyberTrust Massachusetts and academic departments to research, recommend, and implement program enhancements.

Develop compelling proposals, presentations, and marketing materials to promote the Cyber Range and its services.

Attend industry events and conferences (with pre-approval for reimbursable expenses) to raise awareness of BSUs Cyber Range programs.

Provide quarterly written reports on lead generation, revenue performance, and pipeline activity.

Masters Degree in a relevant field; Bachelors Degree with significant relevant experience may be considered.

Proven track record in business development, sales, or consultancy within the cybersecurity or technology sectors.

Deep understanding of cybersecurity concepts, industry trends, and best practices.

Industry-recognized cybersecurity certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM) preferred.

Experience engaging with both technical and non-technical professionals.

Familiarity with Immersive Labs or similar platforms is a plus.

Established network across industry, public sector, and non-profit organizations.

Ability to communicate complex cybersecurity concepts to diverse audiences.

Self-motivated and results-driven, with ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.

Proficiency in verbal, written, and presentation skills.

Contract Details

This is a 12-month independent contractor opportunity.

The independent contractor is not an employee, agent, or representative of BSU or the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

A 1099 MISC will be issued for each calendar year the contract term covers.

The independent contractor will be required to complete a BSU W-9 form.

The contractor must sign a Commonwealth of Massachusetts Standard Contract and agree to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Terms and Conditions.

The contractor must invoice BSU; payment terms are net30 from invoice receipt.

The contractor is responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and benefits.

The contractor must maintain confidentiality and adhere to BSUs data security requirements.

The contractor must disclose any potential conflicts of interest.

Payment

The consultant will receive $70,000 over the 12-month contract period, payable in equal monthly installments upon receipt and approval of invoices, contingent upon satisfactory progress toward contract deliverables.

For every $25,000 in net revenue collected by BSU Cyber Range and attributable to the consultants efforts, the consultant may receive 10% of that revenue ($2,500), not to exceed $5,000 per calendar quarter. Bonus payments require written validation by the Dean of Continuing Studies.
