About the Role
At Target, we believe data is more than just numbers—it’s the voice of our guests, our stores,
and our business. The Marketing Analytics and Insights team turns data into meaning. And now,we’re looking for a Data Analyst who is eager to explore data and develop skill in translating business results into compelling stories that drive action.
This role is an exciting opportunity for a curious and collaborative analyst who is energized by connecting with stakeholders, simplifying complexity, and learning how to influence strategy with compelling information. While a foundational understanding of technical tools is expected, this role is well suited for someone eager to build expertise.
You’ll sit at the intersection of data and strategy, serving as a trusted advisor and insight
translator across teams. Your analysis won’t just inform; it will inspire decisions that drive the
business forward.
What You’ll Do
  • Explore and interpret data to uncover the story behind business performance—what
happened, why it matters, and what comes next.
  • Conduct ad hoc and deep-dive analyses that identify new opportunities, answer strategic
questions, and support decision-making.
  • Work closely with marketing and other cross-functional partners to understand business
needs, explore data, and translate key findings into understandable insights.
  • Develop intuitive, action-oriented dashboards and visualizations that highlight key takeaways—not just numbers.
  • Grow business acumen by learning how consumer behavior shapes performance.
  • Build strong relationships to collaborate, learn, and contribute to a high performing team.
What We’re Looking For
  • 4-year degree in Analytics, Statistics, or related field—or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience pulling and analyzing data, with a demonstrated focus on data curiosity, developinginsight, and problem solving
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills—you’re as comfortable in front of a dashboard as you are talking with the team
  • Ability to distill complex data into a clear, persuasive story
  • Deep curiosity about guest behavior, business trends, and how data connects the two
  • Experience partnering with non-technical stakeholders to understand business problems and talk through data options
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI to create dashboards and visually communicate insights
  • Familiar with SQL with the ability to write queries to extract and manipulate data from large
databases. Experience with Python or R for basic data wrangling and exploratory analysis is a
plus.
