PD Transmission Data Analytics - Product Manager
Job Description
This posting is to fill a new position within the Power Delivery Data Analytics organization. This individual will be responsible for managing a portfolio of data analytics products supporting Transmission functions, including Finance, Scheduling, Operations, Resource Management, and Project Management. Primary responsibilities will include leading a project and/or project team, providing strategic direction with application development, overseeing product development from ideation to release (including testing, training, deployment, and support structure implementation), guiding product roadmaps and strategies, and collaborating with stakeholders across the enterprise. The successful candidate will work closely with other business units, various Technology Organization groups as well as external vendors.
This position is essential for supporting our capital investment strategy. This position will be part of a group of professionals including project managers, engineers, data analysts, data engineers, data architects, data scientists, and app developers. The team will combine expertise in PD operations and business intelligence with technology product development and advanced data science and analytics. The team will be responsible for data driven analytics programs and strategies across Alabama Power Company, Mississippi Power Company, and Georgia Power Company Power Delivery organizations. The team will be responsible for working with the PD Transmission business units to create data projects that drive operational efficiencies, reduce costs, enhance customer experience, improve reliability, and lay the foundation for future load growth. The role requires a combination of deep analytical expertise, business domain knowledge, strategic mindset, client relationship, project management skills, and the desire to build new capabilities across the Southern Company PD footprint. Understanding how to use knowledge of the electrical grid along with data from throughout the organization and combining it with advanced analytical methods will be critical to the success of this role.
