Data Center Facility Engineering Technician (Non-Shift), Data Center Engineering Operations

We are currently seeking a Data Center Operations Electrical/Mechanical/Control Engineer to join our Engineering Operations Team.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.

The successful candidate will oversee the operation and maintenance of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure for Data Centers (DC) in Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud regions. Our technicians are operating and maintaining AWS DCs' world-class mechanical and electrical infrastructure. In addition to technical operations and maintenance, the successful candidate will oversee facility operations and ensure the implementation of safety procedures.

The role requires a motivated, self-managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions to problems while striving for operational excellence.

Key job responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the operation, and maintenance of all, mechanical, Electrical and HVAC equipment within the Data Center/Facility.
  • Developing work plans for emergency repair of critical assets.
  • Troubleshooting of all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems.
  • Operating under minimal supervision.
  • Creating and closing Work Orders with appropriate data, to include labor hours, equipment maintenance, and parts used into asset management system.
  • Maintaining changes in state in Mission Critical infrastructure in support of corrective/preventive maintenance.
  • Testing: Test quality, performance, safety, and reliability of products, equipment, processes.
  • Acting as a front line responder for hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting.

Basic Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High school or equivalent diploma.
  • Professional Electrical or Mechanical Certification (National Craft Certificate (NCC), Registered Electrical Contractor (REC), or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems (Mechanical, HVAC systems, Controls), or knowledge of key electrical competencies and theory.
Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications:

  • Data center engineering operations experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical or equivalent engineering.
