Job Overview

The Data Center Technician (Building & MEP) is a hands-on, field-based role responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems in mission-critical data centers. This position ensures high availability, safety, and compliance with international data center standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, TIA-942, ASHRAE) while supporting both active (live) and under-construction facilities.

The role requires strong technical expertise in data center infrastructure, including power distribution, cooling systems, raised flooring, containment, and fire safety, along with a disciplined approach to SLA-driven operations. The technician will work under supervision but must demonstrate independent problem-solving in live environments, adhering to safety protocols, SOPs, and permit-to-work procedures.

Required Skills & QualificationsEducation & Certifications

• Minimum: DAE (Electrical / Mechanical / HVAC / Mechatronics).
• Preferred: Bachelor’s (BS) in Electrical / Mechanical / HVAC Engineering (or equivalent).
• Certifications (Highly Valued):
• Electrical Safety / Lockout-Tagout (LOTO).
• PEC Registration (Pakistan Engineering Council – preferred).
• Basic HVAC or Electrical Maintenance Certification.
• Fire Safety / First Aid / QEHS Training.
• OEM/Vendor Training (e.g., UPS, CRAC, Electrical Panels).
• Data Center Fundamentals (e.g., Uptime Institute, DCPro, Schneider Electric).

Technical Skills & Experience

• 2–5 years of hands-on experience in MEP, data centers, or critical infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of data center electrical & mechanical systems.
• Experience in both active (live) and passive MEP works.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, layouts, and method statements.
• Basic troubleshooting skills (electrical, mechanical, cooling).
• Familiarity with tools & equipment (multimeters, thermal cameras, refrigerant gauges, torque wrenches).
• Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and travel nationwide as per business needs.

Pay: Rs45,000.00 - Rs65,000.00 per hour
