Job Description:
The Data Center Technician III is responsible for the high availability and resiliency of the infrastructure within the data center boundary. Data Center boundary consists of Data Center, TSER (Telecommunications Service Entrance Room), TEC (Technology Equipment Center) and TDR- (Technology Distribution Room) locations within Hospitals, Clinics and all other Intermountain Health building locations. Job duties consist of overseeing and coordinating data center maintenance, troubleshooting and incident response. Areas of responsibilities comprise of general electrical, environmental, Security access, surveillance and audits, monitoring, cable management and fire systems. Performs cabling, racking, and server installations. Additionally, the technician provides operational & engineering support to various stakeholders of the data center boundaries, including Facilities, Physical Security, third party providers, IT systems, storage, network, telecommunications and other customers. The level III technologist demonstrates subject matter expertise and significant experience with data center operations and technology across multiple locations. Incumbent's ability encompasses a subset of the total knowledge required within the data center specialty area has ability to work independently. The level III technician consistently works with and directs junior technical contributors and team members.
Essential Functions

Supports, maintains, and monitors the data center boundary, including power, cooling, fire suppression, and the cable plant.

Installs, tests, and troubleshoots data center infrastructure cabling and maintains current documentation for cabling infrastructure requests.

Assists in the development and administration of business continuity or disaster recovery plans.

Accountable for capacity planning and supports data center MAC (Moves-Adds-Changes) within the Data Center boundary.

Updates and maintains fire stopping as needed and maintains and audits security access within their respective areas.

Provides incident response within the data center and is responsible for monitoring security compliance and following defined security policies.

Acts as a subject matter expert, resource and partner to IT, Facilities, and third party consumers of Data Center services and participates in projects and programs throughout the data center ecosystem.

Actively documents and follows formal standard operating procedures, including SOP and MOP for data center operations as well as corporate policies.

Receives and responds to incoming calls, texts, emails, and/or voice mail as specified by team guidelines, dispatches, and follows up on completion with customers.

May act as "lead" or trainer or mentor to others.

Physical Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
-
Demonstrate Senior level Data Center experience, or any combination of equivalent education and experience.

Certification BICSI Installer-1 or Installer-2
-
Experience with building and safety codes for data, telephone, and other NEC Class 2 cabling.

Demonstrate technical work experience. Infrastructure cabling planning, terminating and testing.
-
Demonstrating optimum Data area environmental and how to test and troubleshoot.
-
Demonstrate electrical deployments to Data Center areas as well as testing and troubleshooting.

Demonstrate basic knowledge of electricity, HVAC, UPSs, cabling infrastructure, and fire suppression systems.

Demonstrated basic knowledge of data and telephony demarcation.

Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Hands-on troubleshooting experience.

Demonstrated strong verbal/written communications skills, interpersonal skills with the ability to work within a dynamic team environment.

A valid driver license may be required for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Data Center certifications such as CNCDP (Certified Network Cabling Design Professional)

Professional Certifications such as Data Centre Facilities Operations Specialist (CDFOS)
-
Certification for Electrical & Telecommunication accreditation, such as IACET.

IT certification or credentials, such as Data Center Foundation Certificate (DCFC), Certified Facilities Operations Manager (CDFOM).
-
Certifications in various data center technologies, such as Cisco (CCNA) or Electrical Technician certifications.
-
Electro/mechanical experience.
Physical Requirements

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
