    POSITION PURPOSE: The Student Data Specialist is a part of the Data Services team and reports directly to the Director of Data Services. This team is responsible for the smooth functioning of the District’s Student Information System (SIS), the integrity of the associated data, and the support services for end users. This position captures, reports, stores, retrieves and transmits various data in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Manage, monitor, and maintain the SIS
    • Provide support for staff utilizing the district's SIS
    • Ensure the accurate and timely capture of critical data
    • Review SIS data for accuracy
    • Coordinate the collection of data by working closely with the Data Clerk at each school
    • Oversees S.C. Department of Education state reporting and other reporting and verifies that schools have appropriately submitted their data in an accurate and timely manner
    • Requests software updates for the SIS
    • Supports all yearly and seasonal processes, including school setup and end of year roll-over
    • Troubleshoot problems and provide help desk support to district and school users.
    • Install plug-ins or patches to enhance the use of the SIS application
    • Attend appropriate training to enhance skills and expertise

    ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Data Services, Chief Instructional Services Officer, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor’s degree and/or experience in the related field
    • Three years progressively more responsible experience in technology related field

    EXPERIENCE:
    • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications.
    • Knowledge of district identified database program applications.
