Data Engineer

Hybrid role - need to live within driving distance of OKC, OK.

Key Skills:

• Report development in IBM Cognos and Infor
• Data querying and reporting (limited programming)
• Experience with financial, gaming, hotel, and health data

Core Responsibilities:

• Design and maintain ETL scripts and processes to move and transform data across various database platforms using standard programming languages and enterprise tools.
• Build and optimize database architectures, ensuring performance and query efficiency across multiple platforms.
• Develop, test, and document new or modified scripts, models, and reports to ensure accuracy, maintainability, and user-friendliness.
• Design, develop, and maintain metadata models using IBM Cognos Framework Manager to support enterprise-level reporting and analytics.
• Implement appropriate data security practices while ensuring ease of use and accessibility for end users.
• Create intermediate to complex reports and dashboards, integrating data from multiple sources to support strategic business decision-making.
• Convert existing reports to Cognos by reverse-engineering legacy code, identifying appropriate data sources, and building improved report structures.
• Collaborate with business users to gather reporting and dashboard requirements, translating them into actionable specifications.
• Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure adoption of reporting solutions by partnering closely with stakeholders.
• Provide training and documentation for end users on Cognos platform features, functionality, and navigation.
• Act as a liaison between business users and the BI/IT team, ensuring smooth communication and project execution.
• Work in collaboration with the analytics team to support enterprise-wide data and reporting needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Programming, Information Systems, Business, Finance, or a related field (required)

Experience:

• 2–5 years of experience in Business Intelligence, IT, or advanced analytics
• At least 2 years in designing and developing BI reports and dashboards
• Experience with Cognos BI tools (or similar platforms) for building interactive dashboards and reports
• Familiarity with relational and dimensional data modeling, data warehouse design, and integrating external data sources
• Experience gathering requirements and translating them into technical solutions

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong understanding of data integration, validation, and transformation techniques
• Ability to communicate BI concepts to non-technical audiences
• Skilled at designing user-friendly dashboards and presenting technical solutions to stakeholders
• Able to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams

Preferred Certifications:

• IBM Certified Designer (Reports or Multidimensional Reports) or equivalent

Other Requirements:

• Ability to pass a background check and obtain a gaming license if required
• Valid driver’s license
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
