Data Engineer

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will take ownership of the administration, operation, and continuous optimization of our database environments and selected business applications. You will act as a technical interface between business units, IT teams, and external service providers.

• Administering and operating database servers with a strong focus on Microsoft SQL Server, both onpremises and in cloud environments
• Installing, monitoring, and ensuring the stable and secure operation of managed database systems
• Handling escalations and acting as a single point of contact for complex incidents and problems
• Advising internal and external customers on database architectures, backup strategies, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions
• Coordinating requirements and changes between business departments, IT teams, and external service providers
• Creating and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation for created and modified databases
• Structuring, analyzing, and implementing requirements as well as performance and stability optimizations
• Supporting department-specific applications across 1st, 2nd, and, where required, 3rd level support
• Coordinating application vendors in productive environments
• Creating reports, analyses, and dashboards for monitoring, controlling, and management purposes
• Participating in on-call duties when required
• Taking on defined ITSM roles such as Incident Manager, Problem Manager, and Change Manager
• Ensuring strict compliance with information security requirements, confidentiality obligations, and all contractual and legal regulations

Your Profile

• Completed vocational training as an IT Specialist, a comparable professional qualification, or a completed degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a related field
• ITILv4 Foundation certification
• Broad and solid general IT knowledge across infrastructure, systems, and applications
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server or comparable database systems
• Good knowledge of the Microsoft BI Stack (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS)
• Sound understanding of IT fundamentals such as hardware, software, and networking
• Fluent English skills (at least B1 level)

Preferred Qualifications

• MCSA certification for Microsoft SQL Server or equivalent certifications for other database systems
• Knowledge of cloud architectures, preferably with Microsoft Azure or AWS
