Window Estimator

Overview:

The Estimator position is responsible for performing take-offs of Avanti products and services from new construction single and multifamily digital plan sets. Estimating includes the markup of project plan sets, scope, and specification documents and taking into consideration changes in product and services due to changes in elevation per model, option selections, and site placement. This role will involve working closely with the sales team as well as other departments. High attention to detail, ability to follow process checklists and executing to reach deadlines is essential to success in this position.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints

o Single/Multifamily plan reading experience preferred

  • Accurately estimate window and door packages based on builder specifications and building codes

o Single-family subcontractor take-off experience preferred

o Fenestration related code knowledge preferred

  • Proactively communicate with builders and other departments and stakeholders as needed
  • Adherence to process checklists and review protocols
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at various stages of the bid lifecycle concurrently
  • Maintain plan markup and quoting software knowledge and complete accurate Order Entry steps

o Bluebeam software experience preferred

o FeneVision software experience preferred

  • Ability to interpret plan incongruencies and establish well-communicated and documented solutions.
  • Skilled in learning and using computerized take-off programs
  • Basic knowledge of Excel is required
  • Complete assigned projects accurately and on time to meet deadline
  • Adaptable to changing processes and priorities
  • Enjoys working in fast-paced environment with a high sense of urgency
  • Seeks out internal experts and utilizes their knowledge
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn internal software programs and applications such as FeneVision
  • Ability to operate in the Mac OS software environment.

Education and/or Experience:

Must have a High School Diploma or GED. AA or Technical degree preferred, 1-2 years’ related experience. Prior knowledge of general construction applications and terminology and/or window and door applications or components is desirable but not required.

· Experience in single-family new construction (Builder and/or Trade preferred).

Computer Skills:

Proficiency with Microsoft® Word, Excel, and Outlook software applications. Will be expected to develop proficiency in FeneVision (Avanti software) and be/become familiar with Mac OS.

Communication Skills:

Excellent verbal and written English language skills are required as well as customer service skills. Ability to read, interpret, understand and explain project related construction documents such as product specifications, scope, and plan sets. Ability to effectively present information to others, gather information from others, and respond appropriately to questions from customers, coworkers, and managers. Must display excellent phone and email etiquette. Must be able to present an appropriate attitude for the situation when interacting with customers or coworkers.

Professional Skills:

Must be a team player and exhibit a strong desire to learn and promote self-growth. Must be proactive, self-disciplined, self-motivated, and have demonstrated ability to follow bid processes through completion. Attention to detail is required. Must be able to demonstrate organizational skills, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Must be able to develop trust, respect, and confidence in customers, coworkers, and managers. Must present a clean and neat physical appearance. We must be able to investigate issues and resolve conflicts in the best interest of the business and our customers.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide by 10s and 100s. Ability to perform calculations using units of money, time, measurement, etc. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, length, width, height, and depth. Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra, geometry, and general business math.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, type or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Time commitment required of this position will vary based on business needs.

Work Environment:

The work environment with this job primarily includes the typical office environment. The noise level of this job is typically moderate. Employees in office positions may occasionally enter warehouse work areas.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
