Job Summary/Objective:
The purpose of Southwire’s College Programs is to help early career professionals bring together formal learning and

productive work to improve their ability to transition from school to work. Southwire provides interns and co-ops with

“real world” applications of their academic studies, helpful feedback and coaching, and consideration for employment

after graduation. Each student will have a variety of responsibilities and assigned projects that relate to their field of

study and be responsible for developing a timeline, progress updates, and final delivery in a senior leadership expo.

Note: All new interns and co-ops must begin in the summer rotation.

Long Description

Position Summary

As a Data Governance Intern, you will support initiatives that enhance data quality, integrity, and usability across Southwire’s technology systems. You will work alongside a collaborative team of data analysts and governance specialists to identify anomalies, develop data validation rules, and contribute to root cause analysis efforts. This role offers exposure to SAP platforms (including SQVI and Info Steward), financial controls, and master data frameworks. You’ll participate in cross-functional meetings to understand business needs, help define governance strategies, and assist in building user-friendly data interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze day-to-day data workflows and support special projects focused on data quality and governance
• Run and refine data validation rules in SAP to detect anomalies and bad data entries
• Assist in root cause analysis and develop action plans to mitigate recurring data issues
• Utilize Info Steward and SQVI queries to assess data accuracy and completeness
• Support the development of data governance frameworks for SAP functional or sub-functional areas
• Participate in cross-functional meetings to understand the impact of data elements and ensure alignment with business needs
• Help prepare exception reports and contribute to the distribution and resolution of data quality issues
• Collaborate on the design of user interface forms in partnership with other teams
• Engage with all team members to gain exposure to business process analysis, rule development, and SAP data processing

Qualifications

• Minimum 2.5 GPA
• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in Data Analytics, Computer Information Systems, Business Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science or similar programs.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work
• Proven working experience in a team environment
• Experience in systems thinking and process management
• Strong organization, planning and analytical skills
• Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
