About the Agency: The Idaho State Board of Education (Board) is established in the Idaho Constitution for the “general supervision of the state educational institutions and public school system.” State law charges the Board with the general supervision, governance and control of public schools and postsecondary institutions, including community colleges. The Board is comprised of eight members: seven appointed by the Governor, as well as the statewide elected superintendent of public instruction. The Office of the State Board of Education (OSBE) is charged with providing professional staff support to the Board and implementing the Board’s policies, programs, and initiatives.
Summary:
The Data Governance Manager will lead and manage statewide education data governance activities including but not limited to policy development and implementation, data sharing agreements, data quality and protection standards, compliance, and training. The Data Governance Manager will have responsibility for improving the quality and availability of education data as well as the protection of sensitive data and information assets.
This position will provide essential support to the Office of the State Board of Education and its partner agencies and stakeholders, improving the governance, availability, transparency, and use of the education data being collected, processed, stored, and utilized by the Board and its partners.
This position requires residency in Idaho. If relocating to Idaho, the Idaho State Board of Education does not reimburse the cost of relocating. The agency will not sponsor a work visa. Incumbent will work out of the central office in downtown Boise.

Special Notification: This position is exempt from the rules of classified service under the provisions of Section 67-5303, Idaho Code. This position is educational professional exempt from overtime. The successful applicant will be required to pass a background check.

Per current policy, this position earns 7.4 hours of vacation leave every two weeks (about 4.8 vacation weeks per year), 3.7 hours of sick leave per pay period, eleven paid holidays, FICA and Medicare contributions, FMLA, and workers’ compensation insurance. Additionally, employees may elect to participate in other employer supported benefits including medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, FSA plan, 401(k) plan, 457 plan, and IDeal plan. This position is eligible for reduced tuition and fees at institutions under State Board of Education governance. The State of Idaho offers a robust total compensation package, including medical, vision, and dental insurance; retirement benefits; paid sick, vacation, and parental leave; and 11 paid holidays per year. Additionally, Office of the State Board of Education employees receive tuition reduction benefits under the State Board of Education.
The State Board of Education has selected Fidelity as the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP) vendor available to Office of the State Board of Education non-classified staff. This is a mandatory retirement program for benefited and non-classified staff who do not have previous credited service with PERSI. The Idaho ORP is a defined contribution plan where both the employer and employee make contributions to the individual employee's account. Employees are immediately vested when enrolled in the ORP. The ORP plan document is administered by the Idaho State Board of Education.
