Job Description
Job Summary:
We have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated analyst, with an appreciation of the commercial aspects of a business to provide services to IP&I’s Home Insurance Insights and Analytics team, working alongside the onshore General Insurance (GI) Platform.
IP&I’s Home Insurance Insights & Analytics team’s key purpose is to implement a sustainable Home Insurance commercial strategy through collaborative relationships, providing insight through data and understanding how IP&I’s Home Insurance offering is delivering for customers, channels and the General Insurance business.
There’s opportunity to get involved in a wide variety of business initiatives and to provide analytical expertise to help maintain and grow IP&I’s position as a leading General Insurance home provider and providing an important role in controlling our indemnity costs. You must be creative, open to testing innovative ways of working and good at seeing what the numbers tell you. Building relationships and collaborating with others are particularly important to the role.
There is no typical day in the life of a Senior Data and Insight Analyst making it both an exciting and rewarding role. The successful candidate would expect to be involved in a broad spectrum of tasks, providing expertise and insights across the General Insurance Platform and General Insurance Claims landscape, helping IP&I to stay at the forefront of trends and spotting opportunities to enhance its performance.
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, in the office. Although the role will generally work to IST, the nature of the services provided to IP&I means that the successful candidate may be required to work outside of IST on occasion.
Responsibilities:
  • Support key trading activity within Home Insurance, analysing performance and the wider insurance market
  • Share key insight and analysis to help steer strategy and change
  • Monitor and control indemnity spend, challenging key stakeholders to ensure IP&I has a deep understanding of our key cost drivers and awareness of opportunities to improve value and customer outcomes.
  • Act as an SME for the Platform becoming a trusted source of data and insight
  • Support the production of annual and quarterly forecasting rounds, challenging inputs and contributing a robust story of Home Insurance performance.
  • Produce and validate large complex datasets to drive value adding visualisations for the GI business.
  • Challenge and answer a range of queries, supporting the wider business to understand performance and indemnity spend.
  • Extract and manipulate data using SQL and SAP and present outputs through a variety of medium including Tableau, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI.
  • Build up expert knowledge to maintain and develop a deep understanding of our business area
  • Support key data and business initiatives to help shape the strategic direction of Home Insurance
  • Maintain a focus on personal development, staying up to speed with existing tools and enhancing knowledge of new and potential software
Essential Skills:
  • Analysis of data, articulating this to stakeholders and using outputs to shape changes
  • Strong SQL, SAP, Tableau, Power BI and Excel skills to extract, analyse and visualise data into a compelling story for stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be comfortable handling large amounts of data
  • Confident in communicating outputs out across a range of audiences, being able to tell the story to the business stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across LTC, the General Insurance Insights & Analytics team and within the Home Insurance platform
  • A willingness to go above and beyond to help your team succeed
  • Attention to detail and demonstrating a commitment to quality
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with customers and colleagues of all levels
  • Curiosity and the ability to identify new opportunities for value adding analysis
Desirable skills:
  • Knowledge of Python or advanced coding capability.
  • Experience using AI or automation software to improve efficiency of processes and level of insight.
  • Ability to combine multiple data sources to drive additional insight.
  • Experience in Insurance or an understanding of insurance claims.
