Data Scientist

About the Role


The Data Scientist provides advanced, hands-on analytical support across credit bureau products, models, and market intelligence. The role focuses on directly analysing bureau data to generate actionable insights, support model validation and Proof of Concepts (PoCs), assess and integrate new data sources, and enable informed decision-making for internal teams, partners, and regulators.


Working closely with the Principal – Data Analytics, the role bridges data science, economics, risk analytics, and business outcomes. It requires strong analytical execution, structured problem-solving, and close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality, insight-led outputs.


The incumbent is an individual contributor who actively applies machine learning, data mining, and predictive analytics techniques to solve business and risk-related problems. The role involves hands-on analysis, retro-scoring, benchmarking, and deep-dive investigations, as well as the development and enhancement of analytical tools, datasets, and reports. This position plays a critical role in driving data-driven innovation, improving analytical capabilities, and ensuring that analytics solutions are practical, explainable, and aligned with business, market, and customer objectives.


Key Responsibilities:

Advanced Data Analysis & Insight Delivery

  • Independently execute complex, hands-on analytical work across credit bureau datasets, framing analytical problems, performing deep-dive analysis, and delivering high-quality insights that inform business, risk, and policy decisions.

PoCs, Retro-Scoring & Analytical Use Cases

  • Perform and own analytical work for Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and retro-scoring exercises, assessing data quality, coverage, stability, and incremental value, and clearly documenting findings and recommendations.

New Data Source Assessment & Integration Support

  • Conduct in-depth analytical evaluation of new and alternative data sources, assessing their relevance and impact on existing analytics products, insights, and reporting frameworks.

Market Intelligence & Benchmarking Analysis

  • Execute market-wide analysis and benchmarking studies to identify emerging trends, peer dynamics, and structural shifts, contributing expert insights to benchmarking and industry reports.

Executive-Ready Reporting & Presentation

  • Develop management-ready analytical reports and presentations, translating complex analysis into clear, concise narratives suitable for senior management, committees, regulators, and partners.

Reporting & Decision Support

  • Produce recurring and ad-hoc analytical reports and dashboards (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly) with clear interpretation to support management and internal committees.

Customer Experience & Issue Investigation

  • Investigate score-related and analytics-related customer cases in collaboration with the Customer Experience team, performing root-cause analysis and providing clear, data-backed explanations.

Vendor & Stakeholder Analytical Support

  • Work closely with internal teams and external vendors to review analytical outputs, support PoC testing, and ensure analytics deliverables meet bureau standards and business objectives.

Analytics Enablement, Automation & Delivery Ownership

  • Improve analytics efficiency through standardization and automation of analytical datasets and processes, while owning the timely and accurate delivery of assigned analytics initiatives.


What We’re Looking For

Education:

1. Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline

2. Strong proficiency in statistical analysis

3. Certifications in data analytics or machine learning (e.g., Certified Data Scientist, AWS Certified Machine Learning Specialist, Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate)

4. Proficient in English

5. Proficient in Arabic


Experience:

1. 8+ years of progressive, hands-on experience in data analytics or data science, preferably within credit bureaus, financial services, banking, or fintech environments

2. Strong experience working with large, complex datasets, performing detailed analysis to extract meaningful insights

3. Solid understanding of statistical analysis, data quality assessment, and analytical methodologies

4. Experience supporting Proof of Concepts (PoCs), retro-scoring exercises, benchmarking, or analytical evaluations of data products and new data sources

5. Proven hands-on proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis, exploration, and analytical automation

6. Experience producing management-ready analytical reports, dashboards, and insight summaries

7. Working experience in cloud-based analytics environments, with Databricks strongly preferred. Practical experience using PySpark for large-scale data processing and analytics

8. Knowledge of credit data, credit risk concepts, or market-wide analytics is highly desirable

9. Exposure to working in regulated or data-governed environments is an advantage

5. Ability to manage multiple analytical tasks and deliver high-quality outputs within agreed timelines

6. Collaborative mindset, able to work effectively across internal teams, vendors, and partners without formal authority

7. High level of ownership and accountability, operating effectively as a senior individual contributor with minimal supervision

8. Able to deal with varied tasks and to work under pressure to meet deadlines and targets

9. Strong attention to detail in ensuring high levels of accuracy and quality in all deliverables
