Data Specialist

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented Data Specialist to join our data team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, analyzing, and improving the quality of our data assets. You will work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure data is accurate, accessible, and secure.

Key Responsibilities

Data Management & Quality

• Collect, clean, and validate data from multiple internal and external sources.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve data inconsistencies, duplicates, and errors.
• Implement and monitor data quality rules and metrics.
• Maintain data dictionaries, metadata, and lineage documentation.

Data Processing & Integration

• Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for data ingestion and transformation.
• Automate repetitive data tasks using scripts (Python, SQL, or similar).
• Support the integration of new data sources into the data warehouse or lake.

Reporting & Analysis

• Generate regular and ad-hoc reports, dashboards, and data extracts for stakeholders.
• Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
• Translate business questions into data queries (SQL, BI tools).

Compliance & Security

• Ensure data handling complies with relevant regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.).
• Apply data masking, anonymization, or pseudonymization where required.
• Support access control and data governance policies.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 2+ years of experience in a data-focused role (Data Specialist, Data Analyst, Junior Data Engineer, etc.).

Technical Skills

• Advanced proficiency in SQL (joins, subqueries, window functions, query optimization).
• Strong experience with Python or R for data manipulation and automation.
• Familiarity with data quality frameworks (Great Expectations, Deequ, or custom solutions).
• Experience working with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure – at least one).
• Working knowledge of ETL tools (dbt, Airflow, Talend, SSIS, or similar).
• Proficiency with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or Metabase) is a plus.

• Analytical mindset with problem-solving aptitude.
• Ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
• Self-starter comfortable managing multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Experience with big data technologies (Spark, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
• Knowledge of data governance tools (Collibra, Alation, Purview).
• Familiarity with data modeling (star schema, data vault, or similar).
• Certification in data management (CDMP, DAMA) or cloud data (AWS Data Analytics, Azure Data Engineer Associate).
• Experience in [specific industry – e.g., e-commerce, healthcare, finance, logistics].

Pay: QAR85,000.00 - QAR120,000.00 per year
