About The Role

As a Datacenter Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for the strategic planning, capacity management, and optimization of our data center fleet. This role is crucial for ensuring our infrastructure scales efficiently to meet future business demands while maintaining industry-leading reliability and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

• Capacity Planning: Develop and maintain long-term capacity plans for critical data center resources, including space, power (electrical, PDU, UPS), cooling, and networking infrastructure.
• Infrastructure Design & Review: Work closely with Design, Construction, and Operations teams to define technical requirements and evaluate new data center designs and upgrade projects.
• Forecasting: Utilize business growth forecasts and IT hardware roadmaps (servers, storage, networking) to model resource consumption and identify potential capacity constraints proactively.
• Cost Analysis: Conduct detailed TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) and ROI (Return on Investment) analysis for capital expenditures (CapEx) related to capacity expansion.
• Standards & Documentation: Define and standardize capacity planning metrics, tools, and processes across all regions.
• Hardware Management: Rack, cable, configure, and decommission server and networking hardware according to established standards and procedures.
• Risk Management: Identify potential risks to capacity and propose mitigation strategies to ensure business continuity.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in datacenter planning, engineering, operations, or a highly related infrastructure role.
• Strong understanding of critical data center infrastructure components (HVAC, CRAC, UPS systems, PDU, Generators, Transformators, Cctv, Fire Suppression).
• Proven ability to perform complex analytical modeling, capacity forecasting, and statistical analysis (advanced Excel).
• Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting complex technical and financial data to executive leadership.
• Proficiency in Autocad, Skech Up or Revit

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications (e.g., Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer/Specialist)
• Experience with DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) tools and their application in capacity management.
• Familiarity with network topologies and planning within a large-scale data center environment.
• Experience with sustainability initiatives, including PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) reduction planning
