Job Brief:
The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining reliable, scalable, and secure database systems through automation, monitoring, and proactive problem-solving, ensuring high availability for critical applications.
Job Responsibilities:

Developing automation for database tasks using scripts, optimizing database performance, managing backups and security, participating in on-call rotations to resolve production incidents, and collaborating with developers to enhance database reliability.

Set up and manage comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems for database health, performance, and availability, ensuring adherence to Service Level Objectives (SLOs).

Lead and participate in on-call rotations to respond to production database incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement solutions to prevent future occurrences.

Analyse database query performance and collaborate with application development teams to optimize SQL queries, schemas, and overall database architecture.

Experience deploying and managing Oracle databases on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) – block volumes, compute, and networking (FastConnect/VPN).

Proficient with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) – dashboards, alarms, and automated tasks.

familiarity with Oracle RMAN, Data Pump, and SQL*Plus.

Hands-on knowledge of RMAN, Flashback, and Data Guard failover/rollback procedures.

Ability to use AWR, ASH, SQL Trace, TKPROF, and optimizer statistics to diagnose bottlenecks.

Experience with Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), Data Redaction, and fine-grained access control.

Comfortable with Linux (Oracle Linux).

Strong communication (written & verbal), problem-solving, and ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional, 24/7 on-call rotation.

Implement and maintain security best practices, including access controls, encryption, and auditing, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and data privacy standards.

Ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational security policies.

Work closely with software developers, platform engineers, and other cross-functional teams to ensure database reliability supports business objectives.
Qualification and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Minimum of 3-4 years of relevant experience in IT Department
