Job Overview:

Under the direction of the Distribution Center Director, the DC Service Manager is responsible for the efficient day- to day operation of the warehouse, with particular emphasis on the management of warehouse inventory accuracy, auditing execution and compliance, returns department, integration of new processes and system changes, support corporate initiative and the training function. The DC Services Manager is responsible for directing the daily activities of the warehouse, staff supervision, proper utilization of space, equipment, and manpower.

Additional functionality includes assisting with the implementation and compliance of safety/security/ housekeeping and sanitation programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Operations: Provide direct daily supervision of warehouse personnel to ensure the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the warehouse. Assist in developing a program to train and motivate personnel for increased effectiveness.
  • Tactical Engineering Support: Focus on cost reduction/productivity improvement, material handling, facility design, systems and training/people, methods engineering, process design, value analysis, process improvements, standardization and best practices. Manage the efforts surrounding operational excellence, special projects, and employee communication.
  • Safety: Lead and manage the implementation of the 5S system, and enforce programs to endure the safety of all personnel, equipment, and property. Assure compliance with OSHA and MSDS regulations.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain an effective cycle count program to ensure the current inventory is accurate. Ensure proper rotation of stock. Conduct physical inventories of warehouse each year in accordance with company policies.
  • Material Handling: Facility Design ad Retrofit- Proficient in analysis of business processes., changes. etc. Participate on new design discussion and retrofit to existing facilities as appropriate.
  • Value Analysis of Existing Process/ Best Practices: Analyzes methods and procedures to ascertain the most efficient and accurate way to perform all warehouse tasks.
  • Labor Management: Direct the operations of warehouse supervisory personnel to achieve prescribed objectives. Apply sound communication and motivational techniques in supervising, counseling, and disciplining subordinates.
  • Supply Chain Initiatives: Responsible for local analysis of the effects of initiatives (such as process or systematic changes that effect the efficient inventory flow, system accuracy or fulfillment processes within the local facility.
  • Communications: attend warehouse meetings. Interact with DC manager to establish goals. Communicate with transportation, corporate office, customers, and department managers to ensure efficient product flow.
  • Housekeeping/ Security: Assist in the evaluation of housekeeping, sanitation and security levels on a daily basis. Review warehouse operations daily, ensure that warehouse is neat, secure, and well organized and that damage to product and equipment is prevented.
  • Customer Service - continually maintain a professional and courteous relationship with all customers and corporate staff.
  • Reporting: Review operating goals and standards on a daily basis and monitor achievement.
  • Availability: Tour the warehouse regularly to answer any questions.

Essential Competencies:

The DC Service Manager requires experience in warehousing management and broad knowledge of warehouse operations. A broad range of management skills is required with particular emphasis on leadership, supervision, motivation, communication and planning.


Qualifications:

  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required for employment
  • Education: Some college required, degree preferred.
  • Background check and drug test required
