Delivery Supervisor

1. POSITION SUMMARY

The Delivery Supervisor is responsible, with the Delivery Manager, for the efficient operations of the company location’s delivery function. The supervisor role acts as an extension of the manager’s established vision for the team, supporting drivers on their routes and providing oversight. The Delivery Supervisor, with the Delivery Manager, ensures delivery routes are run according to schedule, filling in as a driver as needed.

2. POSITION EXPECTATIONS

  • Acts as on-site supervision for the Delivery department
  • Holds employees accountable to policies and documents thoroughly
  • Remains in regular communication with Delivery Manager to ensure shared knowledge and consistency of messaging
  • Fills in for the Delivery Manager in their absence
  • Pulls reports and analyzes with the Delivery Manager
  • Strategizes with Delivery Manager the best structuring and protocols for the department
  • Leads the Delivery team by exemplifying the company’s values and adherence to policy
  • Supports team and encourages a positive department culture
  • Follows up or checks in with drivers as needed to ensure continued route efficiency
  • Provides remote support to drivers in the field as needed
  • As needed, drives delivery routes to fill in for missing drivers
  • Receives escalated client concerns and handles with patience and good judgement
  • Collect, check, and load all the day’s orders listed on their daily delivery manifest.
  • Each morning, confirm that all staged outbound product has successfully left the premises
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with policies, procedures, and regulations
    • Understands all company safety guidelines and protocols outlined in the Safety Handbook
    • Follows up on vehicle maintenance and inspections according to federal, state, and company guidelines
  • Maintains and uses company equipment appropriately, responsibly, and safely without damage or loss
  • Collects supporting materials as needed, such as pictures for warranty claims or client signatures

  • Maintains compliance with all company guidelines and company established standards
  • Maintains clear and timely communication with management, including updates and concerns

3. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports the management of members of the Delivery department under the guidance of the Delivery Manager
  • Leads effectively and fosters a positive team environment by providing direction and coordination
  • Supports the completion of team member evaluations
  • In coordination with the Delivery Manager, assigns the schedules of department members
  • Performs supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
  • Supports the Delivery Manager in interviewing, hiring, and training associates as needed
  • Plans, assigns, and directs work in the absence of the Delivery Manager
  • Balances the needs of the business and of individuals
  • Maintains a solutions-oriented perspective
  • Uses critical-thinking skills to interpret information to make sound business decisions and recommendations
  • Understands the company vision and long-term goals; communicates them effectively to the team

4. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Education, Certifications, and/or Licenses:

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Valid DOT medical card
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • 1 year’s experience in a supervisory role
  • 1 year’s experience in a customer-facing role
  • 1 year’s experience driving a box truck preferred
  • Experience in wholesale workspace products and services industry a plus

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of driving in a commercial environment, including procedures and vehicle maintenance
  • Ability to work schedule as assigned, including irregular hours or extended shifts as needed

  • Knowledge of safe use of tools and equipment
  • Proficiency with basic computer software and math skills
  • Possesses consistent access to reliable transportation that can accommodate assigned work schedule
  • Ability to pass company drug and background check screenings
  • Ability to adhere to all company safety policies
  • Excellent presentation, listening, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage and organize time to meet objectives and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and/or collaboratively within a team – willing to roll up your sleeves and help the team get work done

5. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be required to do the following:

  • Ascend and descend stairs and ramps
  • Perform activities such as balance, bend/stoop, crouch, kneel, push/pull, reach, squat
  • Move self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments
  • Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Move about to accomplish tasks or move from one worksite to another
  • Adjust or move objects up to 2,000 lbs. in all directions using proper lifting technique and equipment
  • Lift up to 100 lbs. unassisted
  • Operate machinery, power tools, and standard warehouse material-handling equipment
  • Operate motor vehicles
  • Communicate with others to exchange information including in person and via phone call
  • Repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • Assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work

6. WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate regularly works in a fast-paced, noisy, non-temperature-controlled environment, varying between internal warehouse environments, delivery vehicles, outdoors, and internal/external customer locations.

7. COMPENSATION

  • $48,000 – $52,000 per year, paid on a biweekly basis
