Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized instruments, materials, and supplies for various dental procedures.
- Assist dentists chairside during examinations, restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced equipment like 3D scanners and medical imaging tools while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA and infection control protocols.
- Manage patient records efficiently using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, dental terminology, and treatment plans.
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical documentation to support comprehensive patient care.
- Provide excellent customer service as a dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, answering queries, and guiding patients through their visit.
- Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control standards to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Support general dentistry procedures with knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, and dental assisting best practices in pediatrics and adult care.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with pediatric dentistry or general dentistry practices.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, medical coding, and handling medical records is essential.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or Dentrix enhances workflow efficiency.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and anatomy is required to ensure patient safety.
- Experience operating dental equipment like X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging devices is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology along with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages including pediatrics.
