Dental Assistant

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and efficient dental practice, providing exceptional patient care while assisting the dentist during various procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, procedures, and the ability to work effectively with both patients and staff in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, employing four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient visits by ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are sterile and ready for use.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays as needed, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including medical documentation and medical records, while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
  • Manage appointment scheduling and patient flow, acting as a dental receptionist when necessary.
  • Perform vital signs checks and assist in medical imaging as required.
  • Ensure infection control protocols are followed, maintaining aseptic techniques throughout the clinic.
  • Collaborate with the dental team to provide high-quality care in pediatric dentistry, general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and other specialties.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred; familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control practices is essential.
  • Proficiency in chairside assisting techniques and experience with 3D scanners is a plus.
  • Understanding of medical coding and documentation processes is beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, particularly in pediatrics.
  • Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
