Duties

• Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
• Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterile and ready for use.
• Take high-quality dental X-rays and operate medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners while maintaining strict adherence to infection control protocols.
• Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Open Dental, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes.
• Provide chairside assistance by handling dental terminology efficiently and supporting procedures with aseptic techniques.
• Monitor vital signs and assist in pediatric dentistry by creating a welcoming environment for young patients.
• Support administrative tasks such as answering the dental receptionist phone lines, scheduling appointments, and managing medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Maintain infection control standards through proper sterilization procedures and knowledge of anatomy to assist with complex procedures confidently.

Skills

• Proficiency in EMR systems such as Open Dental for efficient record keeping and appointment management.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
• Experience with medical coding and documentation within dental clinics or healthcare settings.
• Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice.
• Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners accurately.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with dentists, hygienists, patients, and administrative staff.
