Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting procedures, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care. As a Dental Assistant, you will support dentists during various procedures, manage patient records, and ensure the smooth operation of the dental practice. Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during clinical procedures such as examinations, restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery and pediatric dentistry treatments.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available while maintaining strict infection control protocols.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced equipment like 3D scanners and medical imaging tools while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Idental and Carestack, ensuring all documentation complies with medical coding standards.
- Provide chairside assistance by handling dental terminology effectively and supporting procedures with aseptic technique and anatomy knowledge.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote optimal health outcomes.
- Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist and managing medical documentation efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment that meets infection control standards and promotes safety for both staff and patients.
- Collaborate with team members to facilitate four-handed dentistry techniques that enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments with a focus on dental assisting duties.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as idental and Carestack is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding practices relevant to dental records management.
- Ability to operate dental X-ray equipment safely while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Familiarity with infection control practices including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures.
- Strong understanding of anatomy relevant to dentistry and proficiency in using 3D scanners or other medical imaging tools is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics.
Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
