Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all instruments and materials are prepared and sterilized according to infection control protocols.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology such as 3D scanners and medical imaging equipment, ensuring accuracy and patient safety.
  • Manage patient records efficiently using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
  • Support patients by taking vital signs, explaining procedures, and addressing questions with professionalism and empathy.
  • Maintain a sterile environment through aseptic techniques, proper infection control practices, and knowledge of anatomy to assist with chairside procedures confidently.
  • Handle administrative duties such as scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist, managing medical documentation, coding procedures accurately for billing purposes, and updating medical records.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with the team in four-handed dentistry practices to enhance efficiency and patient comfort during treatments.

Skills

  • Proficiency with dental software platforms including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for scheduling, documentation, and record management.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice.
  • Experience with X-ray techniques, medical imaging tools, and 3D scanners to support accurate diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and medical coding processes to ensure confidentiality and proper billing procedures.
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting confidently across various specialties such as pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry.
  • Excellent communication skills for explaining procedures to patients of all ages—especially pediatrics—and working effectively with the dental team.
