Dental Assistant

Duties

  • Prepare treatment rooms with all necessary instruments and materials, ensuring a sterile environment through proper aseptic technique.
  • Assist dentists during various procedures such as restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays , accurately documenting findings in electronic medical records (EMR systems) Dentrix.
  • Monitor vital signs and medical documentation to ensure patient safety throughout their visit.
  • Manage patient flow by greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, and updating medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Maintain infection control protocols and ensure all dental equipment is properly sterilized and functioning correctly.
  • Support general dentistry procedures while demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding standards.

Skills

  • Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing patient records efficiently.
  • Experience with dental imaging techniques including X-ray and 3D scanner technology.
  • Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques within a dental clinic setting.
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry to optimize workflow during procedures.
  • Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles to provide compassionate care for young patients.
  • Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding to accurately document treatments.
