Dental Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and assisting the dentist in various procedures. This position requires proficiency in dental terminology, chairside assisting, and an understanding of infection control protocols. The Dental Assistant will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work environment while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, including four-handed dentistry techniques.
  • Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment following aseptic techniques.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring proper safety protocols are followed.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care.
  • Manage patient flow and assist with scheduling appointments as needed, acting as a dental receptionist when required.
  • Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging as necessary.
  • Support pediatric dentistry by providing compassionate care to young patients.
  • Collaborate with the dental team to ensure a positive patient experience in both general dentistry and specialized areas such as prosthodontics and endodontics.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry being a plus.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology is essential.
  • Proficiency in using dental software applications (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft) and EMR systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience with 3D scanners and medical coding/documentation is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques.
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting duties effectively while maintaining patient comfort.

Pay: $23.55 - $28.36 per hour
