Responsibilities
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments.
- Prepare treatment rooms with sterile instruments and materials following strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced equipment such as digital X-ray systems and 3D scanners to ensure accurate diagnosis.
- Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic while maintaining HIPAA compliance for patient privacy.
- Support patients by explaining procedures, taking vital signs, and ensuring their comfort throughout visits.
- Handle administrative duties including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist and managing medical documentation and records.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical coding to accurately document procedures and assist with billing processes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry practices.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, infection control, aseptic technique, and taking X-rays.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; experience with medical imaging software is a plus.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices is highly desirable along with experience supporting pediatric patients.
- Ability to interpret dental terminology, medical terminology, and understand anatomy for accurate assistance during procedures.
- Certification in radiography or X-ray technology preferred; additional certifications in medical documentation or medical coding are advantageous.
