Duties
- Greet patients warmly and manage check-in/check-out processes with professionalism and efficiency
- Schedule appointments using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring optimal patient flow
- Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and handle billing using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Review and update medical and dental records accurately within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as eClinicalWorks or Meditech
- Conduct insurance verification, pre-authorizations, and explain treatment plans to patients clearly
- Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette; direct calls appropriately and handle patient inquiries promptly
- Maintain organized filing of medical records, dental charts, and administrative documents in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with intake procedures, appointment reminders, and follow-up communications to enhance patient satisfaction
- Support office management tasks including data entry, typing reports, and managing office supplies
Skills
- Proven experience in a dental or medical office environment with strong front desk skills
- Proficiency in dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; familiarity with EMR systems like Epic or Meditech is highly desirable
- Knowledge of medical billing procedures including CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and insurance claim processing
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Familiarity with medical terminology, care plans, and documentation review processes
- Competency in computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (10-key typing)
- Ability to manage multi-line phone systems efficiently while maintaining a friendly demeanor
- Experience with health information management systems such as eClinicalWorks or Dentrix preferred
- Strong organizational skills for filing, scheduling, and maintaining accurate records in a fast-paced environment
