Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and reviewing medical records to ensure safe treatment planning.
- Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper technique and safety protocols are followed.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote long-term oral health.
- Maintain accurate documentation of treatments, medical records, and dental terminology in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix.
- Adhere strictly to infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and safety.
Qualifications
- Valid licensure as a Dental Hygienist in accordance with state requirements.
- Proven experience in dental office settings, with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and medical terminology.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care and communication skills.
