Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
- Assist with chairside procedures in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings, ensuring smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to strict infection control and aseptic techniques.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to enhance their overall health.
- Maintain accurate medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times.
- Review documentation for accuracy, update dental charts, and assist with medical coding for billing purposes.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental clinic or office environment.
- Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control protocols, and medical terminology essential for accurate patient assessment.
- Hands-on experience with dental assisting procedures, chairside assisting, and pediatric dentistry is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix to manage patient records efficiently.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and security of patient information.
