Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current dental conditions to develop personalized care plans.
- Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure efficiency and comfort.
- Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while maintaining proper aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health.
- Review and update medical records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support the dental team with chairside assisting, documentation review, and maintaining a sterile environment aligned with infection control standards.
Requirements
- Valid licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current state certification or licensing requirements.
- Proven experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and record keeping.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding practices.
- Experience in infection control procedures, aseptic technique, and maintaining a sterile clinical environment.
- Ability to perform patient care tasks including vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and patient assessment confidently.
