Dental Hygienist

Job Overview
Olson Dental Care (Bloomington) is actively and immediately seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our growing dental team. We hope to find a dependable and qualified candidate to provide personalized and professional patient care and dental treatment to our amazing patients, with a passion for promoting oral health and providing exceptional service. As a Dental Hygienist, you will play a vital role in supporting dentists by performing preventive dental treatments, patient education, and assisting with clinical procedures. Your expertise will help ensure our patients receive comprehensive care in a welcoming, professional, and fun environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
  • Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
  • Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
  • Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Review documentation for accuracy, assist with medical coding, and support overall documentation review processes.
  • Support infection control measures by following sterilization procedures and maintaining a sterile clinical environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver comprehensive general dentistry services focused on optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Valid licensure as a Dental Hygienist in accordance with state or regional regulations.
  • Proven experience in dental office settings, including familiarity with dental assisting and chairside assisting techniques.
  • Proficiency on dental software, charting and computer based programs
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control standards.
  • Ability to perform vital signs assessment accurately and handle medical imaging procedures effectively.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, medical records management, and medical coding practices.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients clearly and compassionately about oral health care.

Pay: From $55.00 per hour
