Duties

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to ensure safe and effective treatment.
• Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health.
• Maintain accurate medical records and document treatment details in Dentrix.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and maintaining confidentiality at all times.

Skills

• Proficiency in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical coding to accurately document procedures.
• Experience with pediatric dentistry and pediatrics-specific care approaches for young patients.
• Strong knowledge of infection control procedures, sterilization techniques, and aseptic methods within a dental setting.
• Familiarity with Dentrix for efficient documentation review and record keeping.
• Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs compassionately and professionally.
• Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
