Duties

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments by reviewing medical histories and vital signs to ensure safety and personalized care.
• Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
• Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring clear documentation and accurate diagnosis support.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health.
• Maintain strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to uphold safety standards for patients and staff.
• Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review, medical coding, and accurate record-keeping in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Monitor patient vital signs during visits to identify any health concerns that may require further medical attention or referral.
• Support pediatric dentistry procedures by creating a welcoming environment for young patients and assisting with pediatric-specific treatments.
• Ensure all dental office procedures adhere to established infection control standards and maintain a sterile environment at all times.

Experience

• Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental clinic or healthcare setting with familiarity using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology relevant to dental care.
• Prior experience working with pediatric patients in pediatric dentistry is highly desirable.
• Skilled in chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry for efficient workflow.
• Familiarity with medical imaging procedures, vital signs monitoring, and documentation review processes.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security is essential.
