Duties

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while ensuring proper infection control protocols are followed.
• Conduct vital signs assessments and review medical records to support accurate patient evaluations.
• Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options, ensuring they understand dental terminology clearly.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient care, medical history, and treatment notes within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
• Follow HIPAA guidelines strictly to protect patient privacy and ensure compliance with all regulations related to medical records and documentation review.
• Support infection control procedures using aseptic techniques and knowledge of anatomy to prevent cross-contamination.
• Monitor patient status throughout visits by assessing vital signs and performing chairside assisting with precision.
• Collaborate with the dental team to ensure smooth clinic operations, including managing appointments, reviewing medical coding, and supporting pediatric dentistry cases when needed.

Qualifications

• Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a clinical setting.
• Proven experience working in general dentistry.
• Proficiency in Open Dental.
• Excellent patient care skills with the ability to educate patients effectively on oral health practices.
• Proficiency in taking xrays.
• Ability to perform chairside assisting seamlessly while maintaining a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
