Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while ensuring proper infection control protocols are followed.
- Conduct vital signs assessments and review medical records to support accurate patient evaluations.
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options, ensuring they understand dental terminology clearly.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care, medical history, and treatment notes within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Follow HIPAA guidelines strictly to protect patient privacy and ensure compliance with all regulations related to medical records and documentation review.
- Support infection control procedures using aseptic techniques and knowledge of anatomy to prevent cross-contamination.
- Monitor patient status throughout visits by assessing vital signs and performing chairside assisting with precision.
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure smooth clinic operations, including managing appointments, reviewing medical coding, and supporting pediatric dentistry cases when needed.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice in a clinical setting.
- Proven experience working in general dentistry.
- Proficiency in Open Dental.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to educate patients effectively on oral health practices.
- Proficiency in taking xrays.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting seamlessly while maintaining a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
