Description of Work

The Dental Supervisor oversees the Dental Department and ensures the delivery of comprehensive dental care for residents of Caswell Developmental Center and other DSOHF facilities. The role includes providing direct clinical treatment, dental health education, and active participation in interdisciplinary processes. This position supervises and trains dental staff while promoting workplace safety, universal precautions, and completing administrative duties. It also ensures compliance with professional standards, federal and state laws, and ICF/IID regulations. The supervisor must have thorough knowledge of modern dentistry, strong supervisory and interpersonal skills, and the ability to train students and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff, and professional groups.

Salary Grade Range: $123,843 - $247,687 Annually

This Position Is Exempt And Is EXEMPT From Certain Provisions Of The State Human Resources Act (GS 126)

Work hours: 8:30 AM - 5 PM, M - F (will consider part to full time)

  • The role requires thorough knowledge of modern dentistry, including sedation and restraint techniques used in comprehensive dental care.
  • physical ability to use both arms, hands, and feet, as well as to lift or transfer wheelchair-bound individuals and manage or restrain resistive individuals.
  • All five senses must be intact, with vision being especially essential for assessing and treating patients.
  • The position requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, staff, and other professional groups.
  • Knowledge of intellectual disabilities, mental illness, developmental disabilities, and physical disabilities—and how these conditions affect dental care—is preferred.

Licensed to practice dentistry in the state of North Carolina and two years of experience in the general practice of dentistry.
