The Deputy Manager – Accounts & Store Management is responsible for managing financial accounting functions while also overseeing store operations to ensure accurate inventory control, compliance, and efficient day-to-day management. The role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles combined with hands-on experience in store management, stock control, and coordination with operations and procurement teams.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts & Financial Management
- Maintain accurate books of accounts in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor and customer reconciliations.
- Ensure timely preparation of bank reconciliations and cash flow statements.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with tax, audit, and statutory requirements.
Store Management & Inventory Control
- Oversee day-to-day store operations, including stock receipt, issuance, and storage.
- Ensure accurate inventory records through proper documentation and system entries.
- Conduct periodic physical stock counts and reconcile variances.
- Implement and monitor inventory control procedures to minimize losses, damages, and pilferage.
- Coordinate with procurement, warehouse, and sales teams for smooth stock movement.
Controls, Compliance & Coordination
- Establish and enforce internal controls for accounts and store operations.
- Ensure proper authorization, documentation, and approval processes.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audits.
- Liaise with vendors, suppliers, and internal departments for operational and financial matters.
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare inventory valuation reports and cost analysis.
- Monitor slow-moving, obsolete, and damaged stock and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide management with insights on stock levels, cost efficiencies, and financial performance.
Team Management & Support
- Supervise and guide accounts and store staff to ensure efficiency and compliance.
- Provide training on accounting procedures, inventory management, and system usage.
- Support management in process improvements and system implementations.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist senior management in operational planning and decision-making.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, SOPs, and safety standards.
- Perform any other duties assigned to support business objectives.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or Business Administration
- Professional certifications (ACCA, CA-Inter, ICMA, CMA) will be an added advantage
Experience
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in accounts with hands-on store or inventory management exposure
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and inventory control
- Experience with ERP or accounting software
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, and reporting skills
- Good coordination and communication abilities
- Attention to detail and strong control mindset
- Ability to manage teams and handle multiple responsibilities
