Job Description:
We are seeking a reliable, organized, and personable Design Assistant to support our Design Manager with showroom coordination, client meetings, and vendor communication. This role plays an essential part in keeping both our projects and showroom running smoothly, while helping create a positive and seamless experience for our clients.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable balancing both administrative and creative responsibilities. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, along with the ability to assist with basic floor plans and construction documents as part of the design process.
You will contribute to all phases of a project—from preparing for client meetings and tracking selections to coordinating with vendors and maintaining accurate documentation. Responsibilities:
- Maintain an organized, current, and visually appealing showroom environment for both clients and internal team use
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to source, track, and update samples, catalogs, and product information
- Manage lead inquires and communicate with prospect clients to set up appointments
- Assist in the preparation, development, and revision of construction documents, including floor plans, elevations, and detailed layout drawings such as cabinetry, paint, electrical, and plumbing
- Support the creation of design deliverables such as selection boards, layouts, and client presentations
- Prepare materials and documentation for client meetings, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Attend client meetings, document detailed notes, and track selections, approvals, and key decisions
- Manage and follow up on selections, pricing, and outstanding items to keep projects progressing on schedule
- Request and organize quotes, product specifications, and vendor information relevant to each project
- Maintain accurate and well-organized project files, including drawings, selections, and correspondence
- Provide day-to-day administrative and project coordination support to the Design Manager
- Help ensure all selections and design decisions align with project budgets, timelines, and overall design intent
- Communicate with subcontractors and vendors to support design execution and resolve minor issues
- Assist with basic space planning, layouts, and design problem-solving as experience grows
- Contribute to improving internal processes, organization systems, and the overall client experience
Qualifications:
- 0–2 years of experience in interior design, architecture, or a related field
- Degree or coursework in interior design, architecture, or a related discipline preferred but not required
- Customer-facing experience is a plus, with the ability to communicate professionally and build client trust
- Knowledge of renovations, remodeling, construction processes, and interior design principles is preferred but not required
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in both creative and administrative work
- Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a strong desire to learn and grow within the role
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Foundational design sensibility, including understanding of layouts, materials, finishes, and spatial relationships
- Ability to read, interpret, and assist in creating basic floor plans and construction drawings
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with design software (Chief Architect, CAD, SketchUp, or similar) preferred
- Comfortable learning new systems and software used for selections, documentation, and project tracking
- Self-motivated with the ability to anticipate needs, take initiative, and follow through on tasks
- Willingness to receive feedback and progressively take on more responsibility within the design process
Please note that the salary for this position will be determined in accordance with the candidate’s experience, education, and overall qualifications.
Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
