Design Coordinator

About Us

D&D Home Remodeling Contractors is a fast-growing design-build company specializing in kitchens, bathrooms, and full home renovations across the Bay Area. We handle projects from concept to completion, including design, engineering coordination, and city permits.

We’re looking for a strong, detail-oriented professional who can manage design, drafting, and permits in one role.

Responsibilities

Design & Client Support

• Create basic layouts for kitchens, bathrooms, and interior remodels
• Assist with material selections and design direction
• Prepare simple 2D/3D renderings (SketchUp, Chief Architect, or similar)

Drafting & Plans

• Produce permit-ready drawings (floor plans, elevations, details)
• Revise plans based on internal feedback and city corrections
• Maintain organized plan sets and templates

Permitting

• Submit plans to local jurisdictions (San Jose, Fremont, surrounding cities)
• Track permit status and respond to plan check comments
• Coordinate with city departments to move projects forward

Coordination

• Work with structural engineers and Title 24 consultants
• Communicate with project managers and sales team
• Ensure plans align with field conditions and scope of work

Requirements

• Experience in residential remodeling (kitchen/bath/structural preferred)
• Strong knowledge of local permitting processes
• Familiarity with California building codes and energy requirements
• Proficiency in drafting/design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Chief Architect, or similar)
• Ability to read and produce construction drawings
• Strong communication and organization skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience submitting permits in Bay Area cities
• Experience coordinating with engineers and consultants
• Background in both design and drafting (hybrid skillset)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $28.13 - $40.00 per hour
