Design Coordinator – Marine Projects

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Design Coordinator with proven marine industry experience to oversee and manage design deliverables across multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will ensure that all design outputs meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations while optimizing cost, schedule, and technical performance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all design deliverables comply with quality standards, project specifications, and relevant marine regulations through rigorous reviews and audits.
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation, including drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among internal design teams, consultants, contractors, and clients to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Manage design changes and revisions, assessing their impact on scope, schedule, and budget, and securing necessary approvals.
  • Identify design-related risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure project continuity.
  • Monitor design costs, track expenditures, and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients on design matters, providing regular updates, addressing concerns, and gathering feedback.
  • Drive continuous improvement in design coordination processes, promoting innovation and efficiency to enhance project delivery and client satisfaction.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Develop and present alternative design schemes for client review and feedback.
  • Lead value engineering initiatives, integrating the latest technical innovations to improve cost efficiency and accelerate construction timelines.
  • Prepare detailed schedules for architectural finishes, materials, and specifications to support procurement and budgeting.
  • Ensure timely delivery of design outputs that meet client requirements, budget constraints, and approved project timelines.
  • Guarantee that all design documents adhere to construction and marine industry standards.
  • Oversee the quality and coordination of design documents across all disciplines.
  • Ensure compliance with authority requirements and manage the interior design (ID) process, including RFPs, bid evaluations, and consultant appointments.
  • Coordinate between ID consultants and the Architect of Record (AOR) to ensure timely and integrated deliverables.
  • Manage control sample submissions and ensure alignment with project technical standards.
  • Collaborate with procurement, estimation, and client teams to ensure ID materials are approved, technically viable, available, and within budget.
  • Integrate specialty consultant deliverables into the lead consultant’s design package without conflicts.


Required Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of engineering and design principles across multiple disciplines, with a focus on marine infrastructure.
  • Proficient in project coordination, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard design software and tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address design challenges.
  • ERP knowledge, preferably SAP, is essential.


Experience & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience, including at least 3 years in a relevant design coordination role.
  • Experience in the GCC region is a plus.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture.
  • Marine project experience is mandatory .
