Design Engineer

JOB PURPOSE:

GCL is looking for a Design Engineer who is responsible for supporting project delivery by assisting in the development of design drawings, calculations, and engineering documentation. Collaborates with project managers, designers, and field staff to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely execution of design plans for construction and landscaping projects.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Assist in preparing project management documents, including scope statements and project plans.
• Produce basic design drawings, as-built drawings, and quantity calculations using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or related software.
• Collaborate with designers and field staff to ensure accuracy and resolve design issues.
• Prepare alignment, profiles, sections, and corridor designs.
• Process field data and computer-generated survey information.
• Ensure all plans comply with drawing standards and drafting requirements.
• Prepare pre-engineering and topographic plans.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support project objectives.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION:

• Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or construction-related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum Experience: 5+ years of experience in field construction and design support. Preferably in contracting, construction, or landscaping projects.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

• Job Specific:
• Knowledge of construction, landscaping, civil structures, and utilities is an asset.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other design software.
• Ability to produce accurate drawings, calculations, and design documentation.
