Job Description – Design Engineer (Glass & Glazing Systems)
Department: Design / Engineering
Reports To: Design Manager / Project Manager / Operations Manager
Role Summary
The Design Engineer is responsible for the design, detailing, and technical coordination of glass and glazing systems including glass partitions, glass doors, acoustic partitions, staircases, balustrades, and specialty glass systems. The role ensures all designs are technically sound, compliant with specifications, and executable on site.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Drafting
- Prepare shop drawings, GA drawings, and detailed fabrication drawings for:
- Glass partitions (straight & curved)
- Glass doors (manual & automatic)
- Acoustic glass partitions
- Glass staircases
- Glass balustrades & handrails
- Prepare sections, elevations, fixing details, and connection details
- Interpret architectural and structural drawings to develop constructible designs
- Ensure accurate dimensions, tolerances, and levels in drawings
Technical Coordination
- Coordinate with:
- Architects & consultants
- Structural engineers
- Project engineers & site teams
- Fabrication and installation teams
- Incorporate consultant comments and revise drawings accordingly
- Attend coordination meetings when required
- Provide technical clarification to site teams during execution
Material & System Knowledge
- Select appropriate:
- Glass types (tempered, laminated, acoustic, heat-strengthened)
- Thickness and interlayers
- Aluminum profiles, channels, fittings, and hardware
- Ensure compliance with:
- Project specifications
- Local authority regulations
- Safety and structural requirements
Submittals & Approvals
- Prepare material submittals, technical data sheets, and method statements
- Support consultant and client approval processes
- Maintain drawing registers and approval status
- Prepare IFC (Issued For Construction) drawings
Site & Fabrication Support
- Support fabrication teams with cutting lists and fabrication drawings
- Coordinate glass cutting sizes and tolerances
- Visit site as required for verification and issue resolution
- Assist in preparation of as-built drawings
Quality & Documentation
- Ensure accuracy and quality of drawings before issue
- Maintain revision control and document records
- Support QA/QC requirements and inspections
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Architectural Engineering
- 3–7 years of experience in glass & glazing / interior fit-out projects
- Experience in UAE or GCC projects is preferred
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory)
- Knowledge of Revit / BIM is an advantage
- Understanding of structural basics for glass systems
- Proficiency in MS Excel and documentation tools

Pay: AED4,000.00 - AED5,000.00 per month
